A New Chapter for Fable & King: Moving, Growing and Welcoming a New Player.

Over the last three years, life behind Fable & King has changed in ways we never could have imagined. Like many small independent brands, our journey hasn't always been straightforward, but every step has shaped where we are today.

Our story began in London, where the idea for Fable & King first came to life. Inspired by family, creativity and a love for timeless design, we built a brand around quality clothing, thoughtful designs and products with a story behind them.

Then life took us in a different direction.

Over the past three years, we've moved from our hometown in London to Guildford, Surrey, starting a completely new chapter. Moving, settling into a new area and dealing with everything that comes with a major life change meant that, at times, we felt a little stuck. We weren't always sure which direction to take Fable & King or what the next stage of the brand should look like.

And sometimes, that's OK.

Small businesses don't always move forward in a straight line. There are periods where ideas slow down, priorities change, and life outside of work becomes more important. Rather than forcing the next big idea, we took some time to step back and work out where we wanted Fable & King to go.

Then came an even bigger change....

Welcome to the world, Arlo

This year, we welcomed our first baby boy, Arlo, into the world.

Becoming parents has completely changed our perspective. It's been exciting, exhausting, emotional and, at times, slightly overwhelming — especially when you're trying to work out what a newborn actually needs!

One thing that has made the transition much easier has been the incredible support we've received from friends and family.

We've been given so many hand-me-down baby essentials, from clothes and play gyms to bottles, bottle sterilisers and other newborn equipment. Some things we probably wouldn't have thought to buy ourselves have turned out to be incredibly useful.

It has also made us realise just how much stuff new parents are told they need.

And that's something we're going to explore in our next post.

Advice for Parents Expecting Their First Baby

If you're preparing to welcome your first child, here are a few things we've learnt already:

  • Accept hand-me-downs whenever you can — babies grow quickly, and pre-loved items can save a lot of money.

  • Don't worry about buying everything brand new; many baby essentials are used only for a short time.

  • Take help from friends and family — it really does make a difference.

  • Prepare for sleepless nights, but enjoy every moment, as the early weeks pass incredibly quickly.

  • Most importantly, remember that every parent learns as they go.

As we move forward, Fable & King will continue to evolve alongside our growing family. Expect new ideas, family-inspired designs and products that reflect this exciting new stage of life.

Thank you for being part of our journey so far. Here's to new beginnings, new adventures and the wonderful chaos that comes with becoming parents.
